We were heading through on a long day trip so we were not heavily loaded which was nice. The footing wasn't great here as others have said.

Trail was slightly overgrown and rocky, with mud holes to boot. Some elevation changes along the way but, nothing too serious. Scenic cliffs can be seen on the Ross Lake side. In and of itself this portage isn't terrible but, consider that if you're doing it fully loaded you've committed to doing the 4 portages between Long Island & Banadad (to camp legally) with only reasonably short paddles in between.

When going west it was down hill. Footing was poor. The trail was overgrown and rocky.
