The Ken51 2021 fire burned this area right to the ground including roots and moss. This was burned in 2016, so all the new re-growth is gone. I could not find any evidence of the old trail and simply walked over the empty field to the other side. The down deadfall was even burned up. Like walking through an ashtray. Reminds me of the barrenlands in the Canadian Arctic. New undergrowth will have to grow back before a new portage can be established. No where to hang the flagging tape.
