Well used, but still very good site. This is almost exclusively used for the night before a towboat pick up, or if paddling on Saganaga is to rough. The site is on the top of a small hill with excellent landings in the bay and on the lake side. Decent tent sites, lots of trees, as a result can be a bit buggy. As Hook island is the drop off, and pick up point for tows to and from Quetico it is VERY busy with travelers.

Decent site and concur with Bud’s review and rating. The put-in/out is in the big water, with the tow in/out location being in the bay, so consider that when staging. There is some shore fishing access to both the big water and small bay as well, although we didn’t have any luck during a calm evening at the tail end of a long, high pressure weather system. The trail to the pickup site was fairly overgrown and mucky at the bottom, so we decided to load our packs back in the canoes and paddle around to it, which only took around five minutes minus load/unload. We were the first of the season to use the main fire pit, but it was obviously well-used during previous seasons. Definitely recommend for staging the evening before tow-out if there’s danger of being wind bound. If occupied, there’s another, smaller site on the point that could be used in a pinch, but recommend only if absolutely necessary due to proximity to main campsite, difficult put in/out, exposure to wind, and lack of fire ring.

Two fire rings, two decent tent pads, room for more. Trail down to Hook Island boat tow drop off. Heavily used site. Primary use is to facilitate early morning boat tow pick up.
